Tucked inside the grounds of the historic Fulham Palace — one of London's most beautiful and little-known escapes — this cosy cafe is a genuine treat for parents with young children. The Drawing Room, designed in 1814 and once used for afternoon teas by the Bishops of London, now serves as a spacious, high-ceilinged refuge with huge windows looking out onto the garden. It's the kind of place where you can actually hear yourself think.
The cafe is fully accessible with pram-friendly entrances, a baby changing table in the unisex toilet, and high chairs available. Food runs from breakfast pastries and great coffee through to homemade sandwiches, salads, and small plates at lunch — all at reasonable prices. Bishops Park is right on the doorstep, so a post-coffee walk or a trip to the playground is easy to tack on.
Tip for parents: The garden terrace is lovely on a dry day and buggy-friendly. The cafe closes at 4pm so aim for a morning or early lunch visit.
